"Our flexibility and willingness to follow a child's lead will allow remarkable things to happen, if we let it"- Bev Bos

Mi Casita takes an interdisciplinary approach to developing our bilingual early education program.  Inspired, in part, by the philosophy of the Infant Toddler Centers and Preschools of Reggio Emilia, we believe children’s interests are central to the direction of curriculum. Through careful observation, teachers harness the spark of curiosity that students bring to the classroom, building learning experiences that inspire play, imagination, and storytelling.

We believe that an intentionally designed space can inspire and guide activity. Teachers are invited to view their classroom as an ever-evolving work of art. Children are encouraged to explore a rich and diverse "materials collection", ranging from everyday recyclables to real art and craft tools, to support their learning. Borrowing from Montessori’s hands-on approach to education, Mi Casita also takes into consideration the entire potential of the child, mentally, socially, physically and emotionally. Interdisciplinary methods that respects teaching as intentional and organic are woven into our program which offers students a solid Spanish foundation,

Mi Casita strives to create a deliberate learning and creative community centered on values such as simplicity, kindness, collaboration, stewardship, and integrity. Borrowing from principals of a Quaker education, our community, including the students, teachers and families are encouraged by word and example to respect the talents and perspectives of others and include them in a cooperative search for knowledge and art.
